GPS for HanDBase Plugin – Capture GPS Coordinates in your HanDBase for Android Database

Testing and Using the GPS for HanDBase Plugin
In my testing I was able to capture GPS Coordinates regardless of the level of GPS that was enabled. Different devices may handle this in different ways though so you’ll want to test the different levels yourself to make sure it’s capturing the data correctly. Most likely you will want to turn GPS on fully, usually setting it to High accuracy in the Location settings for the best results though. However, because of the way this plugin works, it will only activate full GPS when you are in the GPS Data screen. You’ll notice this because the location icon will only appear in the Notification bar when you are in this screen. By doing it this way it should help with saving battery power. To begin testing, turn GPS on now.

Now you can make sure this plugin works on your device by entering some test records. Open HanDBase and then open the GPS Test database. This is a very simple database with just one field for holding the GPS data. This database is set to open the GPS Data form when you add a new record or edit an existing one. If you Create a New record you will see the location icon appear in the Notification bar and then a message will flash on your screen saying “Getting GPS Coordinates”. After a few seconds you should then see a message flash on your screen saying ” You can now paste the GPS Data”. At that point simply press the [Paste GPS Coordinates] button in the HanDBase form to paste the data into the field. If for some reason the plugin could not get the GPS Data you’ll see a message flash saying “Unable to get GPS data. Make sure GPS is turned on.” If that happens Exit HanDBase and verify that GPS is turned on.

Assuming everything worked as described then you’re done.
